SOAP NEWS Letitia Dean to return to EastEnders as Sharon Watts

Actress will strut back onto Albert Square

Letitia Dean joined EastEnders in 1985

Letitia Dean will make an 'epic' return to EastEnders as Sharon Watts this summer.

The 44-year-old actress was one of the original characters on the soap when it launched in 1985  and can't wait to get back on our screens.

'I am really looking forward to being part of the EastEnders team again, as it has always been very close to my heart,' says Letitia.

'I cannot wait to work with my old colleagues and see what is in store for Sharon.' 

Letitia's character Sharon originally left the soap when her affair with husband Grant Mitchell's brother Phil was revealed in 1994.

She returned again in 2001 but after 5 years made her exit as a pregnant woman when her husband Dennis Rickman died.

'I'm so thrilled that Letitia is coming back home to Albert Square where she belongs,' says EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood.

'Sharon is a real favourite among fans and I for one cant wait until she arrives back.'
