
Pat Butcher is to have a row with Walford bad boy Derek Branning before she bows out of EastEnders this festive season.
The bolshy veteran Londoner, played by Pam St Clement, 69, will be paid a visit by her gangster nephew as she lies ill in her bed, moments before she her death early in the New Year.
It is not yet known how Pat's time on the show will end - but it's expected she'll die due to heart attack, cancer or after a fire.
'The whole Christmas schedule is packed full of high-octane drama in Albert Square,' says an insider.
'Pam St Clement's decision to leave has been common knowledge, but nobody will be pepared for the drama about to unfold.'
As well as Pat's passing, another character will be killed when Walford's Bed And Breakfast is destroyed by flames.
'There are dozens of twists and surprises,' the insider tells the Daily Mirror. 'Fans will be glued to their seats.'
